Inherited Belief Systems
From the moment we’re born, we’re handed a script. We are shaped by the beliefs and knowledge passed down through our families, education, culture, and media. This isn’t to say that this knowledge comes from a bad place; it’s simply shaped by the perspectives of those who pass it on.
The messages we inherit become the blueprint for our lives, creating tainted perceptions that dictate the colors with which we paint our reality. We absorb these narratives as our own, rarely questioning where they came from. We inherit an entire belief system, attach to it, grow comfortable in it, and ultimately define ourselves by it. It becomes the foundation from which we think, act, and navigate life. Without realizing it, we continue on, growing older or raising children in the same patterns.
If so much knowledge has been given to us by external forces…how can we be absolutely sure the knowledge we hold today supports our truth? Even the words I share with you now come from my own lens - an invitation, not an absolute to you or your truth.
The Power of Doubt
We are programmed to connect doubt to feelings and symbols rooted in lack of confidence, uncertainty or hesitation. From an early age, we’re taught that confidence means certainty, and doubt means something is wrong. What if I asked you to forget everything you know and feel when you read the word doubt. Now let’s move on.
I want you to view doubt as an invitation, a doorway to your deeper truth. Doubt allows us to question, unlearn, and see beyond the illusions we hold within. When coupled with awareness, doubt shifts from being a barrier to being a tool for clarity, expansion, and personal freedom. I am asking you to invite doubt into your life. Doubt the messages you tell yourself. It’s not about doubting yourself, but doubting the conditioned narratives that may not actually be your creations. Doubt used this way provides space for your consciousness to zoom out and pinpoint your truths. Question everything you believe now to uncover the true you.
The 4 Essential Questions of Truth
I designed the 4 Essential Questions of Truth to help you challenge your own beliefs and offer space to discover what resonates as your truth. By attaching these questions to your belief system, you give yourself freedom to doubt, explore, and ultimately reclaim your truth.
● Is this belief mine, or was it given to me by someone else?
● Is this belief rooted in fear?
● Does this belief align with my core values and vision for my life?
● What would happen if I didn’t believe this anymore?
Awaken and Rewrite
As you begin to engage with the 4 Essential Questions of Truth, you will be surprised by how much of your identity has been influenced by your external reality. This exploration invites you to peel back the layers and reconnect with the essence of who you really are. Carl Jung insightfully stated, "Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes" (Jung, 1961). The more we shape our perceptions using external voices and knowledge the further we drift from our authentic selves.
A final note…
I walk with wide eyes of continual awakening, knowing that this lateral shift in perspective feels awkward, but it is not a step back. Each day, I use the power of doubt to embrace the conditioned “knowings”, trusting that the discomfort is simply a sign of transformation. In this space, I am learning to release the need for certainty and allow myself to evolve freely. This journey is not linear, I am learning to recognize the power in allowing myself to doubt, grow, and redefine what it means to truly be me.
My projects stem from the belief that we must first be true to ourselves. My perspective is clear: the more we honor our own journey, the more life will blossom around me. The discomfort of doubt is an opportunity. It has the power to break us free from old narratives and build a life anchored in divine purpose.
